This is one of the oldest Mercedes-Benz R107 and also in the rare and popular version with the manual transmission combined with the 200 PS (147 kW) 350 SL V8 engine.
As successor of the "Pagoda" the SL series R107 hit the showroom in 1971. The R107 was the first SL that was finally available with an eight-cylinder engine. The design of the headlamps and the “safety” rear lamps established a new design language at Mercedes-Benz. In terms of passive safety, the new SL also set completely new standards with crumple zones at the front and rear and a much stiffer chassis.
This particular car was first registered in August 1971, only five months after the model was launched. According to the original registration document and the original Daimler Benz invoice, the buyer was a bank director from Frankfurt who kept the car for more than 30 years.
He chose papyrus white as the exterior color, combined with a black MB-tex interior. Interestingly he ordered the 200 HP (147 kW) V8 in combination with the manual transmission. This makes it not only sportier, but also more reliable and much more economical. Extras he chose included a hardtop, automatic front seat belts, a Becker radio and alloy wheels.
The original new car invoice from that time amounts to 34,039.26 DM - for which 4 VW Beetles could have been ordered at that time.
There are two original checkbooks available which document regular services at Mercedes-Benz:

Since 2015 the car is with its current, fourth owner.
In 2014 the body was reworked and repainted in the original colour.
It is a particularly beautiful specimen with great key data. In my eyes there are only very few oldtimers which can be used as universally as a R107. From leisure drives in the evening up to the big journey down south one can do everything with the car. It will even make a great daily driver in the summer.
The car has a valid German registration with H-plates.
The car is available for an inspection by appointment only in 33415 Verl, Germany. We are happy to show you the car and the documents and have a lift available as well. Please contact us if you wish to obtain further information.
